Main Ethnic Communities in Milan

According to ISTAT´s socio-demographic data, by the 1st of January 2012, 175.858 foreigners where living in Milan.In 2017, this number had increased to 253.482, making up 18,8% of the city’s total population.

Within this high level of Milanese multiculturalism, the biggest ethnic community in is from the Philippines, representing 16.0% of the total foreign population. Egyptians follow with 14,2%  of the foreign population, while Chinese represent 10.9% of the foreign residents in Milan.

The biggest Latino communities come from Peru and Ecuador, while Sri Lanka and Eastern European countries like Ukraine and Romania are also highly represented in Milan.
